Here's hoping haha, he's one of my main inspirations. Thanks man :)

Y U so gud!? How you can compose such a complex song in under two weeks, the world may never know. Superb production too! I can only imagine how even more screwed we all are once Bosa comes into the fold.

Oh boy, this round is gonna be a really close one! Very epic piece. Great orchestration and dynamics, and the mood fits the concept you described. Looking at your instrument list, we use some of the same stuff, haha. Well good luck in the contest; I wish we didn't have to go against each other in the first round. =*(

Nice one! My favorite parts were the lead at 1:12 and the mood change at 2:08 I'm gonna be raving to this all day, haha. Good luck in the contest!

Yikes, I'm in for a fight! Don't let yourself down; this was amazing! I really liked how this piece builds up. It has a very colorful and beautiful vibe, like something out of a Japanese videogame or anime. I'm not sure which person in our group you're referring to that would "steamroll" over you, because everyone's submissions are freakishly good that it could be anyone's win at this point. Good luck man!

johnfn responds:

Hey thanks! I don't have a lot of self confidence hahhhaha oh well. When I said 'one' person could beat me, I really meant 'any' - I think our whole group has a fantastic amount of talent! Good luck to you too.

WHAT ARE YOU DOING ON NEWGROUNDS?? This is absolutely amazing, as with all your pieces; you should be in Hollywood now! Not only are you literally the best composer I've heard here on NG, but you've got impeccable programming/mixing skills, especially with those oldschool EastWest samples that are really hard to tame. I can't wait to hear this piece performed by live players!

Best use of Hollywood Brass I've ever heard. Period.

samulis responds:

It has so many RR... you can't even count!

Ah I remember this one. You definitely love them Symphobia 2 staccatos *shoots self in the foot for giving you all that software* >_<

What's cool is that not only does this tune make a good pirate setting, it could also make for a good backtrack to a rap song. No joke, it really could be a rap song if you add some bass drops and a phat beat.

P.S. For the umpteenth time, just switch to a 64-bit DAW already!

AshleyAlyse responds:

Whaaa? Do you hate Symphobia's staccatos? :O Bahahaha, maybe I'll rap to it meself. ;)
Thank ya, Jobac! I DO, I WANT TO SO BAD. I've tried to use Studio One so many times, but I don't understand anything. :C I'm a pea brained little oaf. *cries*

Ooohh do I get royalties from the title?? ;-)

Sick track btw! I especially love the bass line. Do you have plans to expand on this one?

johnfn responds:

100% royalties direct to you ;)

Yeah I have been working on making my basslines more groovy :)

The truth is I cut this down from about 4 minutes of material. Although I don't have any immediate plans for it, I do think that that melody line is quite special, so I might expand on it a couple of months down the road. I got the impression while writing it that I didn't have the chops necessary to fully do it justice, you know?

it's an excellent start! the short string rhythms give that fierce "battle" energy. I like how it smoothly modulates from C to E and back to C. could definitely use more low-end orchestration and/or drums though.

headphoamz responds:

Thanks so much JC! :D

My name is Jake. I write and play music. I try to be a storyteller as well.
